Reclaim the Crafts: part 1

September, 21-27
Berlin
Day 1st
From the busy "train-plane-hostel" mood switches to Berlin atmosphere in Kulturlabor Trial & Error e.V. office. After some chit chat and laughter with friends and new faces Ukrainian participants have time to breathe and relax at a Tempelhoffield.
"I feel like home", writes Anton and Sasha in their facebook and instagram.

A radical change of weather surprises us and storm starts.
With stormy weather outside and excited minds participants get introduced with the program under the cosy roof of Trial&Error.

This day was very windy and brought us not only the music of nature through the storm but also a magical surprise: Mzaza - musicians.
Day 2nd
Poem of the Day 2nd by participant Dani Mosimann:

A start to the day with Ninja sounds
Blindfolds, shoulder tapping, and walking around
Trust in remembering names and thus to fall
A wonderful group of people one and all

Increased awareness on the door knocks
Of culture & experience - more than a box
People are people, except when onions
Finding a shared value with your companions

Design thinking was the topic of input
Creative problem solving is afoot
Urban exploration with coffee, cake and beer
New socio-cultural programmes are near

The first full day, tiring but fun
More learning & laughs yet to come.

In Berlin participants received theoretical input and exchanged experience to be able to "come out of their boxes" and function together as a team. For example, in a game that allowed to develop trust to each other, they tried to feel the world and people around them while being blindfolded.

Video about 'Trust' game of the Day 2nd follows below.
During the seven days in Berlin participants dived into urban exploration, discussed creative problem solving, design thinking and other exciting topics.
Day 2nd: Urban Exploration
Day 3rd
Anton Kukhliev tells about Day 3rd:

Oleksii Khatkevych:

"It was one of games we played when we came to the office every morning, to become more energized. It was offered by Mima Tikva. The name of the game "Human Music Machine". First person is stepping in the centre of circle and making move plus making sound at the same time, second one stepping in the circle and making his own move and sound, third one stepping and so on...

In the end, when everyone is already involved - we have sort of orchestra of moves and sounds. Funny and relaxed - gives a positive effect that stays for long time - coolest energizer ever, thank you, Mima!"

Day 4th
Keep mixing: ideas, experience, languages

Day 4 was filled with sharing ideas and craft skills. Participants worked in groups - they were deeply immersed in sensible using of various materials. Some instagram feedback from Алексей Хаткевич:

"Upcycling, totally upcycling in everything - we weaved rugs from shabby t-shirts, learned mosaic from special stones found in Italy, as well we created art paper from waste paper. During the break, we visited super cozy place Sahara. It's a pity that I did not take some pics of dishes or the interior.
Busy day!"
Day 5th
About day #5 of the project - Kateryna Andriushchenko tells:

"We analyzed the needs&resources in the team - found out who wants to learn and do what and what can we share. We organized several master classes in the morning: street art painting with acrilyc paint (by Sasha and Lesha) screen printing (by Martin), drawing (Sasha), video editing (Vlad), performing & clowning (Dani, Hasson and Lauren).

When we came back to the Trial&Error office, Alina Rudich and Anton waited for us with cooked traditional "syrniki from the deputy!"

The second part of the day was free of sessions, so we could spend it as we want: walking around the city, getting acquainted with the flea market, plunged into the bar life of Berlin"

Day 6th
3 parallel workshop sessions:

- calligraphy and using it in urban activism,

- adbusting - how to resist ads and their soft propoganda?

- seedbombs workshop with discussing Guerrilla Gardening experience.
Day 7th
Day 7th: sharing the experience, workshops in Artistania

The second part of "Reclaim the Crafts" in Ukraine is going to be full of the practice and implementation of ideas in local communities and towns. Slovyansk, Dobropilie, Pokrovsk, Novohridivka – these towns will be welcoming second part of Reclaim the Crafts in Ukraine, in April 2019.

"Get ready, in April we are expecting incredible activity with Ukrainian and European young activists and artists.
I believe that the continuation of the project in our towns will be no less fascinating than in Berlin", - posted on Facebook page participant Anton Kukhliev, leader of "Move" NGO in Novogrodivka.
